Nerdcore superstar Mega Ran will be performing at the ‘Warriors Of Light’ event on November 9th, at The Abbey in Orlando, Florida. Ran joins Descendants of Erdrick, The Returners, and Knight of the Round for a one-night-only show centered around the music of the Final Fantasy franchise.

Ongaku Overdrive is organizing the concert and accompanying events. ‘Warriors Of Light’ is their third annual show focusing on the fusion of music and gaming culture. In 2017, they held ‘Mega Mania’ as a tribute to the Mega Man franchise. The promotion presented ‘Power, Wisdom And Courage’ for The Legend Of Zelda in 2018. Ongaku Overdrive, founded in 2013 by Kent Ward, actively promotes nerd music in Orlando and central Florida. They have now held over 20 events, including Orlando Overdrive, and become the top promoter for nerdcore, chiptune, and geek rock acts in the area.

This year’s event, ‘Warriors Of Light,’ is all about the long-running JRPG series Final Fantasy. According to Ongaku Overdrives’s website, there will be video game tournaments with cash prizes, artists, vendors with exclusive merchandise, Final Fantasy-themed drinks, and more. Additionally, cosplay is welcome and encouraged. Tickets are available now, as well as VIP packages, which include admission and a great merch package.

About the performers

Mega Ran Teacher, Rapper, Hero. Billboard Charter. Guinness World Record Holder. Mega Ran is all these things and more. Ran’s unique combination of fantasy and introspective hip-hop has found its way all over the world, into leading press outlets and most recently, into the Guinness Book Of World Records for having the most songs to reference a video game franchise.

Descendants Of Erdrick  Progressive-metal band from Austin, TX, dedicated to re-imagining the soundtracks of classic video games, specializing in (but not limited to) tributes to the “epic” role-playing/adventure genre of games. They have little to say about themselves, but their music says everything that needs to be said. They have an uncanny ability to take you to faraway places through their driving guitars and exquisite harmonies.

The Returners A five-piece VGM (video game music) band based in Austin, Texas. They’re known for their flute-fronted melodies, guitar and keyboard wizardry, and willingness to play anything they love, no matter how difficult or obscure. They breathe new life into songs from retro and modern video games in a live rock band setting, along with a few non-gaming favorites.

Knight Of The Round – Based out of the Chicagoland area, Knight of the Round is unlike most Video Game Music bands you may have heard. Their arrangements pay homage to the memorable Final Fantasy soundtracks while bringing an assault of two crushing 8-string guitars, grinding and thunderous bass, and aggressive polyrhythmic percussion with hard-hitting blast beats. Spanning over a wide variety of the metal genre from classic thrash to modern progressive metal, the four-piece delivers many iconic themes from Final Fantasy in the heaviest way possible.
