Since I started this site in January 2020, I have had aspirations of growing it to be the main source for nerdcore culture as well as what’s going on in the world, sort of like the LA Weekly at it’s prime. It was going to showcase locations you’ve never seen, cover events in an in-depth and detailed way, have humor articles that would of been funny and ultimately, be a platform for nerds to say what they want.
What I have realized is that I cannot grow this site by myself or execute the vision that I have set out for myself. For one, writers desire to be payed, the tip jar system I have worked out for the site was supposed to intice writers but I couldn’t find any writers who would write for the site just because they love to write. Catch 22, I know. Another thing, COVID-19 really screwed up my plans somewhat because everything moved online and while I did try to compensate for that, I couldn’t really figure out everything that was going on.
One person cannot run a site on his own, just like one person cannot run a podcasting network/blog on his own. So I’ve been looking and thinking and I realize that I cannot figure out a way to grow nerdazine into the site that I want it to be. I’m a musician, I want to make music and run a record label but I still want to write; I just don’t want to be burdened with something I know nothing about.
Which is why I have signed an agreement for Nodball Media to acquire Nerdazine and it’s assets.
This will be beneficial to both parties. Don’t worry I’m still going to write for Nodball but I’ll be writing for a new boss. Jesse Curtis who going forward will own the Nerdazine assets.
But wait, there’s more!
- Nodball will be transitioning to the platform that Nerdazine is currently using. This will be a transition of an unknown length of time.
- Nerdazine’s brand will be retired and replaced with Nodball. I think Nodball is a better brand name and has a better slogan than Nerdazine anyway. Nodball is unique, Nerdazine is like what? A nerd magazine or something, one in a million?
- We will be introducing a podcasting network that was built by hand originally for Nerdazine. While the move to podcasting was planned, I had no idea on how to get podcasts to come; with Nodball onboard, it’ll be easier to take full advantage of the podcasting network.
With Jesse and I combined, we’ll be able to realize the fullest potential of both sites as well as provide a nerdcore magazine that the culture desperately needs. Don’t worry, the transition will be smooth and it will work out.
On behalf of Nerdazine, I’d like to thank you for reading us during our 6 month existence and I hope that you continue to read us when we become the new and improved Nodball.
Leave any questions in the comments and I will do my best to answer them.
